Liverpool have been dealt a significant injury blow after scans confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson will be sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring injury. The Brazil international was forced off in the 79th minute of Saturday's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, having sustained his second hamstring problem of the season.
The severity of the injury means Alisson is expected to miss a crucial run of fixtures, including Premier League matches against Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton and Aston Villa, as well as the Carabao Cup tie at Brighton and Champions League group games against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen. A return could come on 24 November for the league trip to Southampton, followed by Real Madrid's visit to Anfield three days later.
Caoimhin Kelleher will deputise in Alisson's absence, with third-choice goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros also in contention after replacing Alisson at Selhurst Park. Liverpool signed Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in August, but the Georgia international will not join until next summer.
