New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has begun reshaping his squad after replacing Arne Slot, with Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott emerging as a primary target. The 23-year-old has thrived under Iraola's management at the Vitality Stadium, and the Reds face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United for his signature. Bournemouth have placed an £80 million price tag on Scott in an attempt to deter suitors.
Scott recently praised Iraola's style, comparing it to Jurgen Klopp's early Liverpool teams. 'The way we press out of possession is very aggressive, maybe similar to the early Klopp teams,' he said. 'Liverpool fans should definitely be so excited.' The mutual admiration could facilitate a move, though Liverpool's financial constraints may test their resolve.
Elsewhere, Liverpool have a £55 million buy-back clause for Jarell Quansah, who was sold to Bayer Leverkusen last summer. The 22-year-old has impressed in the Bundesliga and earned a place in England's World Cup squad. The clause would represent a £20 million loss on the original sale, but his homegrown status and fan affection could prompt a return if first-team minutes are guaranteed.
With Ibrahima Konate's departure, the Reds are also reviewing centre-back options. Youngsters Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet have been discussed internally.
