Liverpool ratings: Araujo 8/10 in Brighton win

Liverpool secured a 2-0 Premier League victory over Brighton at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, with two goals in four first-half minutes proving decisive.

The opener was credited as a Pascal Gross own goal after Florian Wirtz's shot deflected in, and Alexander Isak added the second. The result means Andoni Iraola's side have now won four games in a row in all competitions and move up to fourth place, just a point behind Brighton.

Defensive Display

Ronald Araujo earned an 8/10 rating for forceful play down the right that prompted the opener, alongside solid challenges as Brighton built pressure. Jeremy Jacquet also impressed with composure in blustery conditions, while Virgil van Dijk kept matters simple with his defending.

Alisson Becker was rated 6/10 after almost gifting Brighton a goal with an ambitious pass, with his distribution described as poor after that. Milos Kerkez was targeted by Brighton down the left and asked questions defensively throughout before being substituted.

Midfield and Attack

Alexis Mac Allister scored 8/10 for snapping into tackles and using the ball well, while Ryan Gravenberch was busy in midfield shutting down passing lanes. Bradley Barcola continued his impressive form on the right and created the second goal.

Florian Wirtz was dangerous whenever in possession and his shot brought the first goal before being substituted after a knock. Cody Gakpo carried the ball with purpose down the left, and Alexander Isak tucked the second goal away well.

Substitutes Impact

Trey Nyoni made a good block with his first involvement after coming on for Wirtz in the 65th minute, while Rio Ngumoha and Lewis Koumas helped relieve pressure late on. Kostas Tsimikas bolstered the defensive effort after entering in the 88th minute.
