Liverpool matches to go ahead despite Storm Boelo

Liverpool FC has confirmed that both the men's and women's first-team home games scheduled for today (Sunday) will go ahead as Merseyside and the rest of the country brace for a third day of Storm Boelo.

The men's team host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League with a 2pm kick-off at Anfield, while the women's team face London City Lionesses in the Women's Super League at the same time at St Helens Stadium.

Club Statement Confirms Fixtures Proceed

A club statement reads: "Liverpool FC’s fixtures at Anfield and St Helens Stadium today will both go ahead as planned.

"The men’s team host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League and the women’s team are facing London City Lionesses in the Barclays Women’s Super League, with each kicking off at 2pm GMT.

"Due to the very windy weather, please take care if you are travelling to either game, plan your journey in advance and give yourself extra time."

Advice for Supporters Traveling to Matches

The statement adds: "Club stewards will be on hand at both stadiums to assist supporters – please follow their guidance when you arrive.

"We wish you safe travels and we look forward to welcoming you to Anfield and St Helens Stadium."

Today marks the third day Storm Boelo has affected Merseyside and the rest of the country. A weather warning remains in place until 9pm this evening, with rain and heavy winds forecast. Earlier this morning, the Halloween Family Fun Day at Aintree Racecourse was cancelled.

Weather Warning and Expected Conditions

The Met Office states: "Strong winds will spread across northern parts of the UK during Saturday afternoon, combining with spells of heavy rain.

"Initially strong southerly winds will affect parts of Scotland before more widespread and even stronger westerly winds develop later on Saturday.

"Very windy conditions will then persist overnight and through much of Sunday before gradually easing from the southwest later.

"Gusts of 55-65 mph are likely widely with some coastal and exposed areas potentially seeing gusts of 70-80 mph or more, these strongest gusts most likely across Scotland and the far north of England."
