Liverpool have been handed a fresh injury worry ahead of Tuesday's Champions League fixture against Villarreal, with winger Victor Munoz missing training at the AXA Training Centre on Monday.
Munoz, who scored the equaliser in the Premier League victory at Brentford over the weekend, was the most notable absentee as the Reds were put through their paces. The winger needed treatment on two separate occasions during the match at the Gtech Community Stadium, though he managed to carry on each time before being replaced by Joe Gomez late on.
Injury list grows
Andoni Iraola is already without Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong following the pair becoming the latest casualties after sustaining problems during the Premier League triumph at Brentford.
Long-term casualties Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Hugo Ekitike are still working on their recovery programmes.
Academy reinforcements
It meant that for the second consecutive Champions League fixture, the Reds were forced to strengthen their squad with academy youngsters expected to feature amongst the substitutes at Anfield.
Amongst them was midfielder Michael Laffey, the under-21s skipper who has appeared twice in the EFL Trophy this season. His only senior involvement to date came as an unused substitute in last season's League Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.
Left-back Luke Chambers and midfielder James McConnell, both of whom have made first-team appearances this season, took part in the session alongside striker Jayden Danns.
Federico Chiesa, despite being absent from Liverpool's squad for the opening phase of the Champions League, was involved in training, though fellow ineligible player Wataru Endo was missing.
