Liverpool are set to hold talks with Andoni Iraola this week as they move to replace Arne Slot, who was dismissed on Saturday following a disappointing Premier League title defence and reported fallouts with key players, including Mohamed Salah.
The club is undergoing a significant overhaul, with Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate all departing this summer. However, Liverpool are keen to appoint a successor swiftly, and Iraola has emerged as the frontrunner after agreeing to leave Bournemouth at the end of the 2025/26 season.
According to reports from The Independent, the Catalan manager will meet with Liverpool representatives in the coming days for formal discussions. Iraola is available and free to negotiate, having also attracted interest from Crystal Palace and AC Milan.
Iraola is familiar with Liverpool's director of football, Richard Hughes, who scouted him for Bournemouth following his successful stint at Rayo Vallecano. The club is reportedly attracted to Iraola's attacking style, which contrasts with Slot's more methodical approach.
Other candidates include Sebastian Hoeness of VfB Stuttgart and Pierre Sage of Lens, but both are currently employed, making their appointments more complicated.
