Manchester United's hopes of offloading Antony this summer have been boosted after reports emerged that two unnamed Saudi Arabian clubs are considering a move for the Brazilian winger. The 25-year-old has been frozen out by manager Ruben Amorim, who has labelled him part of the 'bomb squad' and is desperate to sell.
Antony spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 26 games. Betis are keen to re-sign him but only on another loan deal, while United want a permanent transfer to recoup some of the £85 million they paid Ajax in 2022. Atletico Madrid have also shown interest, but have yet to follow up.
Sky Sports reports that the Saudi sides could offer a way out, though Antony prefers to stay in Europe. Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich are also in the picture, but Leverkusen boss Erik ten Hag—who previously coached Antony at Ajax and United—has ruled out a move for now, telling BILD: 'He's like a son to me, but we're not interested at the moment.'
Antony has managed just 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances for United and earns £200,000 a week until June 2027. After a difficult spell at Old Trafford, he thrived at Betis, saying: 'I found myself. I needed to be happy.' United hope a suitor will step forward before the transfer window closes.
