Simeone Blames Fan Abuse After Liverpool's Late Winner

Diego Simeone said he reacted as a "human" after confronting a fan following Liverpool's 92nd-minute winner against Atlético Madrid, which ended 3-2 at Anfield. The Atlético head coach was sent off by the referee after Virgil van Dijk's goal.

Simeone claimed he endured constant insults throughout the match, and his emotions boiled over when a fan turned and insulted him after the third goal. "We are in a place where we don't have a right to reply or react... but if there are comments against us, racism or insults, we can get angry or fight back," he said. He did not specify whether the comments were racist.

Liverpool's late victory marked their fifth such win in as many games this season, providing a fitting birthday present for manager Arne Slot, who turned 47. Slot praised his team's fitness and mentality, saying, "What I can assure you, even if we don't score, we will try to push for it."
