Liverpool 0 Man City 3: Player Ratings as Gravenberch Sent Off

Liverpool slipped to a 3-0 home defeat against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, with a contentious red card for Ryan Gravenberch proving pivotal. Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku scored in quick succession after the midfielder's dismissal, before Rayan Cherki added a third at Anfield.

The result was a first loss for Andoni Iraola since he was appointed Reds head coach in the summer. The match was City's first since they were found guilty of 114 charges of Premier League financial breaches.

Player Ratings

Alisson Becker 6 - Little to do before the interval except field a Fernandez shot from range, with little chance regarding any of the City goals.

Ronald Araujo 6 - Roused the crowd early with a hefty challenge but was kept busy by the dangerous Semenyo. Booked and substituted.

Jeremy Jacquet 6 - Solid in helping deal with Haaland and the deeper runs of Cherki, though matters became tricky with Liverpool down to 10 men.

Virgil van Dijk 6 - Won a succession of headers against Haaland and drifted upfield whenever possible in the first half, but could not stem the City tide in the final quarter.

Milos Kerkez 6 - Had his hands full with the tricky Ndiaye, though showed tentative signs of a partnership with Barcola down the left. Happy to scrap with City.

Midfield and Attack

Ryan Gravenberch 7 - Produced two fine trademark runs in the opening quarter and was far brighter than previously this season. Among those to test Donnarumma in the second half before a somewhat harsh dismissal.

Alexis Mac Allister 7 - Good display as the deepest midfielder, winning a lot of second balls and distributing swiftly. Twice went just wide with efforts after the break.

Victor Munoz 7 - Had a low shot held by Donnarumma and was a regular outlet down the right against O'Reilly. Switched to the left flank in the second half before ending the game down the middle.

Florian Wirtz 5 - Tried to find pockets in the first half but was let down by a poor touch and distribution on occasion, disappearing from view after the break. Substituted.

Bradley Barcola 5 - Made two strong challenges and impressed defensively in the first half, but was not overly convincing going forward despite one good pass for Koumas.

Lewis Koumas 6 - Plenty of energy and pressing, but did not get much out of Dias and was not given a lot of protection by the referee against Guehi. Had a decent chance beaten out by Donnarumma after the interval. Substituted.
