Luke Littler will face Gian van Veen in a rematch of their PDC World Championship final after both players powered into the quarter-finals of the inaugural Saudi Arabia Masters in Riyadh.
Littler, who turns 19 on Wednesday, dispatched Paul Lim 6-1 for the second consecutive week, having beaten the 71-year-old by the same scoreline in Bahrain. The teenage world champion averaged 89.33 without a single 180 but still proved too strong for Lim.
“I definitely felt good up there and I can't wait to be back tomorrow,” Littler told ITV4. “It would mean everything (to win this title). There can only be one winner and hopefully I can win it tomorrow.”
Van Veen, who defeated Luke Humphries and Gary Anderson en route to the world final, brushed aside Japan’s Motomu Sakai 6-2 to set up the clash. “I’m really looking forward to tomorrow but I’m first going to enjoy this win and then tomorrow, hopefully revenge,” said the Dutchman after his victory.
In other action, Gerwyn Price whitewashed Alexis Toylo to set up a showdown with Luke Humphries, who beat Ryusei Azemoto 6-2. Michael van Gerwen, Stephen Bunting and Nathan Aspinall all secured 6-1 wins, while Danny Noppert was the only major casualty, losing 6-3 to Hong Kong’s Man Lok Leung.
