Legendary Vancouver Canucks broadcaster and former goaltender John Garrett has died at the age of 74. Garrett played professionally from 1971 to 1985 in both the World Hockey Association and the NHL, representing the Canucks, Quebec Nordiques, and Hartford Whalers. He was selected to the 1983 NHL All-Star Game and narrowly missed the MVP award after Wayne Gretzky scored four goals past him in the final 10 minutes.
Broadcasting Career
After retiring from hockey, Garrett transitioned to broadcasting in 1986. He spent two decades as the color commentator for local Canucks broadcasts and also contributed to national NHL coverage. His distinctive voice and insights made him a beloved figure among fans.

In a statement, Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford paid an emotional tribute. 'He loved this team and took great pride in sharing the game with our fans,' Rutherford said. 'His personality, insight, and genuine care for the people around him made a lasting impression on our players, staff, and everyone who had the chance to work with him.
