Leeds United Supporters Express Fury Over FA Cup Semi-Final Scheduling Delay
Leeds United fans are experiencing mounting frustration and significant uncertainty as the dates for their highly anticipated FA Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium remain unconfirmed. The Leeds United Supporters’ Trust (LUST) has strongly criticised the ongoing delay, labelling it as "not acceptable," which has left thousands of loyal supporters in a state of limbo regarding crucial travel and accommodation arrangements.
Scheduling Conflict and Fan Discontent
The semi-finals are officially scheduled for the weekend of April 25-26, 2026. However, Leeds United also face a rearranged Premier League fixture away at Bournemouth just three days prior, on April 22. This tight scheduling conflict, combined with the persistent lack of clarity from football authorities, is generating considerable anger among the fanbase. Supporters are eager to back their team in what marks Leeds United's first FA Cup semi-final appearance in 39 years, following their dramatic penalty shootout victory over West Ham United last Sunday.
The Leeds United Supporters’ Trust voiced their concerns publicly on social media, stating: "We have reached out to both Leeds United and The Football Supporters’ Association to understand the slowness in announcing details for the FA Cup semi-final. Having liaised with the club, they are still in the dark and waiting on governing bodies, the police, and broadcasters to come to a final decision. It’s not acceptable that we go into the fourth day since the draw, with no details leaving thousands of fans in limbo."
Ticket Allocation and Broader Semi-Final Picture
When the fixture is finally confirmed, Leeds United are expected to receive an allocation of approximately 30,000 tickets for the Wembley encounter against Chelsea. Chelsea secured their place in the final four with a commanding 7-0 victory over Port Vale last Saturday. The other semi-final will feature Manchester City against Southampton, with one of these matches potentially clashing with the London Marathon scheduled for the same Sunday.
Manchester City advanced to the semi-finals after a dominant 4-0 win against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium. Meanwhile, Southampton pulled off a major upset by knocking out Premier League leaders Arsenal with a 2-1 victory at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday night. The Football Association has been approached for comment regarding the scheduling delays, but as of now, no official announcement has been made, prolonging the uncertainty for all involved parties.
