Charles Leclerc has signed a new multiyear deal to continue driving for Ferrari, the team announced on the eve of his home race at the Monaco Grand Prix. The 28-year-old Monégasque will remain alongside Lewis Hamilton, who also holds a long-term contract with the Scuderia.
Leclerc has been with Ferrari since 2019 and has competed in 155 races for the team, a tally second only to Michael Schumacher’s tenure between 1996 and 2006. “It has always been so much more than just a team to me,” Leclerc said. “It’s the team I’ve loved and dreamt of being part of since I was a child.”
The driver has secured eight wins and 27 pole positions with Ferrari, with his best championship finish being second in 2022. He currently sits third in the standings, three points ahead of Hamilton. Ferrari’s decision to retain their current lineup reflects confidence in Leclerc’s ability to deliver if the team provides competitive machinery.
Leclerc won at his home race for the first time in 2024, and the Ferrari is expected to be well suited to the Monaco street circuit this year. He joined the Ferrari academy in 2016, won the Formula Two title in 2017, and made his Formula One debut with Sauber in 2018 before being promoted to Ferrari.
Team principal Fred Vasseur praised Leclerc’s growth: “Over these seasons we have seen him become not only one of the strongest drivers in Formula One but also a person who is completely at one with the team and everything Ferrari represents.”
