Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has expressed regret after shoving a fan who slapped his helmet during Sunday night's game against the Buffalo Bills. The incident occurred as Jackson celebrated a touchdown near the home crowd in Buffalo.
A fan in a Bills jersey slapped Jackson and teammate DeAndre Hopkins on their helmets, prompting Jackson to shove the individual. The fan was ejected from the stadium and later banned from all NFL venues, according to ESPN.
“He slapped me, and he was talking – so, I just forgot where I was for a little bit,” Jackson said after the Ravens' 41-40 loss. “You have to think in those situations. You have security out there; let security handle it. But I just let my emotions get the best of me. Hopefully, it doesn’t happen again. I learned from that.”
The two-time NFL MVP emphasised that he enjoys interacting with fans and plans to continue celebrating with them. “I’ve never seen our fans do that,” he said. “So, I’ll probably do it again when we score a touchdown. It’s not nothing against the fans. I’m just celebrating when my teammates get a touchdown.”
Jackson had a strong performance, throwing for 209 yards and two touchdowns, and rushing for another. His touchdown pass to Hopkins gave the Ravens a 34-19 lead in the third quarter, but the Bills mounted a late comeback, scoring 16 points in the final four minutes to secure a thrilling victory.
