Ezri Konsa was forced off with a knee injury during Arsenal's 2-1 win against Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The defender's substitution in the second half has raised concerns about his fitness for Arsenal's upcoming Premier League fixture.
Match details and Konsa's substitution
Goals from Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres in the first half gave Arsenal a commanding lead, but Mikel Arteta's side struggled in the second half and Slavia Prague pulled a goal back through Wiktor Nowak in the 90th minute.
Konsa started alongside Gabriel Magalhaes in central defence for Arsenal's fourth Champions League game this season, while William Saliba was named as a substitute for the first time this term. Saliba, who has been recovering from a long-term back injury, remained on the bench as Konsa was forced off and replaced by Cristhian Mosquera.
Konsa's season and Arteta's comments
Konsa has featured in all 14 of Arsenal's games since his £55 million move from Aston Villa on August 21. After the match, Arteta explained the decision to substitute Konsa.
'He is obviously playing a lot, he's played so many games in the last few weeks,' Arteta said after the win in Prague. 'He had some issues and we decided to take him off.'
Konsa could now be a doubt for Arsenal's next game at home to Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday.
