Jurgen Klopp performed his trademark fist-pumps in front of the Kop as he made his Anfield return in a 2-2 draw between Liverpool legends and Borussia Dortmund legends. The former Liverpool manager was back at the stadium in his role as honorary ambassador of the LFC Foundation.
Klopp took his place in the dugout alongside Sir Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush and John Aldridge, overseeing a star-studded line-up that included Steven Gerrard and Thiago Alcantara, who scored Liverpool's opening goal. The annual charity match raised funds for the LFC Foundation.
At full-time, Klopp paused during the lap of appreciation to pump his fist three times towards the Kop, each punch drawing a cheer from the crowd of 60,000. The gesture was a familiar sight from his nine-year spell in charge of Liverpool, which ended in the summer of 2024.
Ahead of the match, Klopp jokingly described himself as the third assistant manager to Kenny Dalglish, adding: 'I'm here for the foundation, that's all, and that's fantastic.' The German is also a legendary figure at Dortmund, having led them to two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League final.
