Liverpool star Milos Kerkez has revealed that he regularly speaks to club icon Mo Salah, but not about his next club. The Egyptian forward left Anfield in the summer on a free transfer a year before the end of his contract.
Kerkez: I Still Speak With Mo Salah
He said: “I still speak with Mo often, but I don’t know who he is signing for! We just talk about vacations.”
“I looked up at the TV before we left the AXA for this tour and it showed how many goals and assists combined Mo had for Liverpool. It was 300 and something. I just walked out! What is this?! Time flies.”
Salah's Legacy at Anfield
Salah's spell on Merseyside saw him make 442 appearances and score 257 goals, with Liverpool winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League and other trophies. Kerkez added: “Now it’s a new generation with new players and hopefully, everything will be good. Dom signing his contract is very important for us. He is getting even better in that role of a leader. Everyone is really happy that he is continuing here for longer.”
Besiktas Reveal Negotiation Details
Salah has been linked with clubs including Sporting Kansas City and Besiktas. Besiktas sporting director Onder Ozent said: “We contacted Salah, this also involved a financing model. Salah is a global star, a respected athlete. We met with Salah three times before the financial part of the negotiations was discussed. Up to this point, everything was smooth. When the financial side began, the initial smoothness slowed down from July 21 onwards.”
“Requests began to arrive that would both disrupt the flow of information and create a deadlock in the financial process. I can assume that a respected athlete like Salah was unaware of this. The club has a policy, and it cannot deviate from that policy, our President has very clearly identified his position and has stayed there. I don’t have a chance to say yes or no, Besiktas’s offer, made under its own terms, is clear. If a response comes to this offer, it can be evaluated. But Besiktas will not make another offer. They said they are also in talks with another club, maybe they will get a result from there. The last offer we made to Salah is the final point that does not harm Besiktas’s club identity.”
