Roy Keane has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United, claiming the team looked 'frightened' to secure victory against West Ham. The former captain's damning verdict came after Ruben Amorim's side squandered a 1-0 lead at Old Trafford, settling for a draw that left them eighth in the Premier League.
Diogo Dalot had given United an early advantage, but West Ham fought back, with Soungoutou Magassa scoring the equaliser in the 83rd minute. The result means United missed the chance to move into fifth place, echoing their recent defeat to Everton. Fans voiced their displeasure with boos at full-time.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane did not hold back: 'After they get the goal, you are playing against a team in the bottom three, they take their foot off the gas. You're 1-0 up! Take nothing away from West Ham, and they just about deserved the equaliser.' He added: 'Every time I watch this United team, they disappoint. They aren't clinical, they weren't nasty enough to get the job done.'
The Irishman criticised the lack of intensity, saying: 'United are making substitutions, and he is entitled to do that, but I was watching people come off and it was like they had won the league! Show some intensity. It was all a bit, 'this is cool'. You cannot be cool when you're 1-0 up. Get the job done!'
United now sit eighth, while West Ham remain in the relegation zone despite the valuable point. Pundit Gary Neville praised Magassa, describing him as 'all action' and a 'destroyer' who rescued a vital point for his side.
