Roy Keane has accused Jamie Carragher of 'playing games' after the Liverpool legend tipped Arsenal as Champions League favourites. Carragher made the prediction following Arsenal's 4-0 thrashing of Atletico Madrid, highlighting the Gunners' defensive solidity.
Speaking on CBS Sports, Carragher said: 'That always gives you a chance, especially when you get to the knockout stages. If you're strong defensively you've always got a chance.' He listed Arsenal among four or five teams capable of winning the competition.
Keane, appearing on The Overlap, suggested Carragher's comments were designed to shift pressure onto Arsenal and away from Liverpool. 'Jamie plays games like that, doesn't he? He puts them favourites to put the pressure off Liverpool, a little bit,' Keane said.
Jill Scott then backed Chelsea for the Premier League title, prompting Keane to mock her prediction. 'Do you drink alcohol in the morning? How do you think Chelsea can win the league?' he asked, before reminding Scott that he had tipped Arsenal himself before the season.
Arsenal have won six consecutive matches across all competitions, moving three points clear at the top of the Premier League. Their latest victory saw Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli put them 2-0 up before Viktor Gyokeres added a brace.
