Kane Frustrated as England Concede Late Equaliser in Poland

Harry Kane admitted England's failure to hold on for victory against Poland was 'a tough one to take' after a stoppage-time equaliser denied the Three Lions a perfect World Cup qualifying record. Daniel Szymanski's header in the 92nd minute secured a 1-1 draw for the hosts in Warsaw, ending England's 100% start to Group I.

Kane had given England the lead with a superb 30-yard strike in the 72nd minute, his 41st goal for the national side, moving him clear of Michael Owen into England's top five all-time scorers. Despite the late setback, England remain top of the group by four points with four qualifying matches remaining.

Speaking to ITV after the match, Kane said: 'It's a tough one to take, I thought we handled the game well. It's not an easy place to come and another tough game. We were seeing the game out well. Away from home sometimes the pressure builds and they put a good cross in and scored a good header, that's football.'

The England captain also revealed that the Football Association is investigating an incident before half-time in which Poland defender Kamil Glik appeared to grab Kyle Walker's neck. The altercation led to bookings for Glik and Harry Maguire. Kane added: 'There was an incident just before half-time which has been reported to the FA guys. They're taking care of it and investigating it and we'll go from there.'

Despite the dropped points, Kane insisted England remain on track for next year's World Cup in Qatar. 'It's still been a great camp for us, we're still four points clear with four games to go,' he said. 'There were a couple of rebounds and second balls and it fell their way. We will learn from it and watch it back.'
