Kane and Putellas Win 2026 Ballon d'Or Awards

Harry Kane and Alexia Putellas took home the main awards at the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony.

Kane beat Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal to the Ballon d'Or, thus becoming the first Englishman to do so since Michael Owen 25 years ago.

The Bayern Munich and England striker is a first-time winner of the prestigious award after scoring 73 goals in all competitions for club and country last season.

Putellas Wins Ballon d'Or Feminin

Putellas, now of London City Lionesses, won the Ballon d'Or Feminin for the third time after a spectacular campaign for Barcelona where she won five trophies, scoring 26 goals and providing 15 assists in 53 matches.

Kane shared the Gerd Muller Trophy with Charlyn Corral after scoring 73 goals for England and Bayern Munich combined last season. Meanwhile, Barcelona were named women's club of the Year after their dominant campaign.

PSG took home the men's award, though the majority of the squad couldn't be in attendance due to their Ligue 1 fixture away to rivals Lyon being rearranged for the evening of the ceremony.

Other Award Winners

For the second time ever, the women's Yashin Trophy was presented as Barcelona's Cata Coll was recognised for her performances for club and country. Unai Simon won the men's award after helping Spain win the World Cup.

At the start of the night and following a delay, Yamal successfully defended his Kopa Trophy crown for the best under-21 player - winning the prize for a third successive year - while fellow Barcelona star Vicky Lopez took home the award for the women.

Luis de la Fuente and Pere Romeu were recognised as the coaches of the year and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka received the Socrates Trophy for his tireless humanitarian work.
