Regina Jackson, the mother of LSU star quarterback Jayden Daniels, has publicly criticised ESPN analyst Trey Wingo for what she called "disrespectful" comments about her son's potential in the NFL.
Wingo, a former ESPN host, recently suggested that Daniels might not be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft due to concerns about his size and playing style. Jackson took to social media to defend her son, calling Wingo's analysis "uninformed" and "disappointing".
Mum's Fiery Response Goes Viral
"For someone who claims to be an expert, Trey clearly hasn't done his homework on Jayden's growth and development," Jackson wrote in a now-viral post. "My son has worked tirelessly to improve every aspect of his game, and these lazy takes do a disservice to all the hard work he's put in."
Daniels' Impressive College Career
The Heisman Trophy contender has been turning heads with his exceptional performances for LSU this season. Daniels has thrown for over 3,000 yards with a remarkable 30:4 touchdown-to-interception ratio, while also adding 1,000 rushing yards.
NFL scouts have praised his dual-threat capabilities, leadership qualities, and improved decision-making under pressure. Many draft experts currently project Daniels as a potential top-15 pick.
Wingo's Controversial Track Record
This isn't the first time Wingo has found himself in hot water for his draft analysis. The broadcaster has previously faced criticism for what some describe as overly harsh assessments of young athletes.
Football fans have been divided on social media, with some supporting Jackson's maternal defence and others arguing that Wingo was simply doing his job as an analyst.
As the NFL Draft approaches, all eyes will be on Daniels to see if he can silence his critics on the biggest stage of all.
