Inverness Maintain League One Lead Despite Stenhousemuir Draw
Inverness Caledonian Thistle retained their five-point advantage at the summit of William Hill Scottish League One after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with title rivals Stenhousemuir. The top-of-the-table clash at the Sarens PSG Stadium saw both sides share the spoils in a match that tested the hosts' resilience.
Dramatic Encounter Sees Points Shared
Stenhousemuir struck early, with Olly Whyte giving the Warriors a sixth-minute lead. However, Inverness responded swiftly, as Alfie Bavidge equalised within 13 minutes to level the score. The match took a dramatic turn when Inverness defender Ben Brannan received a second yellow card in the 77th minute, reducing his side to 10 men. Despite this disadvantage, the hosts held firm to secure a valuable point.
Alloa Close Gap with Convincing Victory
In other League One action, third-place Alloa Athletic significantly closed the gap on Stenhousemuir with a commanding 3-0 home win against Hamilton Academical. Goals from Callum Burnside, Luke Donnelly, and substitute Calum Gallagher secured the victory, moving Alloa to within just three points of second place.
Montrose Edge Thrilling Contest
Montrose survived a determined fightback from Queen of the South to claim a dramatic 3-2 victory. The home side appeared to be cruising after Andrew Steeves and Taylor Sutherland gave them a two-goal advantage. However, Kai Kennedy scored twice in five minutes to pull Queen of the South level, before substitute Craig Brown fired home a late winner for Montrose.
Peterhead Secure Comfortable Win
Peterhead eased to a 3-1 victory over East Fife, with goals from Dylan Forrest, Jason Brown, and Kieran Shanks. Destiny Oladipo managed a consolation goal for the visitors, but it was not enough to prevent Peterhead from taking all three points.
Cove Rangers Deny Kelty Hearts
Bottom-of-the-table Kelty Hearts were denied their first league win in six attempts by a late equaliser from Cove Rangers substitute Cooper Masson. Jack Brydon had given Kelty Hearts the lead, but Masson's intervention eight minutes from time ensured the points were shared.
East Kilbride Strengthen League Two Dominance
East Kilbride extended their impressive run at the top of League Two with a comprehensive 3-1 home victory over struggling Dumbarton. The hosts scored three times inside eight first-half minutes through Bobby McLuckie, Joao Balde, and John Robertson, establishing an unassailable lead. Although Ali Omar pulled one back for Dumbarton, East Kilbride comfortably saw out their fifth successive win.
Spartans Suffer Defeat at Stranraer
Second-placed Spartans missed the opportunity to close the gap on East Kilbride, falling to a 2-1 defeat at Stranraer. Dean Cleland headed the hosts in front, and although Ethan Drysdale equalised for Spartans, substitute Aaron Quigg scored a dramatic winner in the first minute of added time to secure the points for Stranraer.
Clyde Demolish Edinburgh City
Clyde moved to within three points of Spartans after a ruthless 5-0 demolition of bottom-of-the-table Edinburgh City. James Hilton scored a hat-trick, with further goals from Darren Hynes and substitute Kyle Connell completing the rout.
Forfar and Elgin Claim Narrow Victories
Forfar Athletic needed an 84th-minute winner from Tyler Pasnik to beat Annan Athletic 2-1, after fellow substitute Tommy Goss had cancelled out Martin Rennie's early opener. Meanwhile, Elgin City secured a 1-0 victory over Stirling Albion thanks to a goal from substitute Matheus Machado. Stirling Albion's misery was compounded by a late red card for Lee Hamilton for violent conduct.
