Brentford have secured the long-term future of star striker Igor Thiago, with the Brazilian signing a new five-year contract that runs until the summer of 2031. The club also holds an option to extend the deal by a further year.
Thiago has been in sensational form this season, scoring 17 Premier League goals — second only to Manchester City's Erling Haaland (22). His performances attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, but the new deal ends speculation over his future.
“I love the club and the people in the club,” said Thiago, who joined from Club Brugge in February 2024. “It's a true love, a real love. When the fans support me, and I see them singing my name and singing my song, it gives me more power.”
Manager Keith Andrews, who replaced Thomas Frank last summer, praised the striker's commitment. “It's brilliant that Thiago has committed his long-term future to the club,” Andrews said. “He's been a massive player for us, so it's a contract he thoroughly deserves.”
Thiago's debut season was hampered by two serious knee injuries, but he has since become a key figure in Brentford's unexpected push for European football. The Bees currently sit seventh in the Premier League after being tipped for relegation following the departures of captain Christian Norgaard, top scorers Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, and manager Frank.
