Glenn Hoddle has indicated he would be open to returning to Tottenham Hotspur as interim head coach, and suggested he would want fellow club legend Robbie Keane to join him in the dugout. Speaking on the ‘Could it be Magic FA Cup’ podcast, Hoddle said: “I think I would, actually. Particularly with Tottenham, as that’s my club.” He added that Keane, currently managing Hungarian side Ferencvaros, would benefit from having an experienced figure alongside him.
Igor Tudor, appointed interim head coach only recently, has lost all three of his first matches in charge, leaving Spurs just one point above the Premier League relegation zone in 16th place. The run of five consecutive league defeats has intensified relegation fears and led to speculation that Tudor’s position could already be at risk.
Robbie Keane, 45, took over at Ferencvaros in January 2025 and was previously linked with the Tottenham job on an interim basis. Reports suggest he would only accept a permanent role rather than a short-term appointment. Hoddle, who managed Spurs between 2001 and 2003, believes the combination of his own experience and Keane’s emerging managerial skills could be a “shrewd move”.
After Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, Tudor appeared worn down, saying: “I don’t want to speak about the club. I want to be positive. I cannot tell the guys nothing in the end after this game.” He added that his side paid for every detail, citing a red card as a turning point.
Tottenham have nine league games remaining and sit 16th, one point clear of the drop zone. Any further change in the dugout would be a risky move at this stage of the season, but the pressure on Tudor continues to mount.
