Haaland fit for Liverpool clash, Maresca confirms

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is fit to face Liverpool this weekend, Enzo Maresca has confirmed.

Haaland had emerged as a major doubt for the trip to Anfield after limping off during Norway’s Nations League defeat to Portugal last Sunday.

Training return eases injury fears

However, the 26-year-old took part in Man City training on Thursday to further allay any injury fears after Norway boss Stale Solbakken insisted the issue was not serious.

Haaland has been an ever-present for Man City in the Premier League so far this season, starting all five games and scoring five goals, including winners against Coventry and Manchester United.

Strong record against Liverpool

The in-form forward also netted in all three meetings against Liverpool last season, perhaps most notably a stoppage-time penalty in the corresponding fixture in February when Man City came from behind to win.

Hopes of repeating that win and securing just a fourth league victory at Anfield since 1981 have been boosted after Maresca revealed Haaland is ready for the big showdown.
