Marc Guehi was back in training with England less than 48 hours after his move to Liverpool collapsed, showing no signs of disappointment as he laughed and smiled with teammates.
The Crystal Palace captain had undergone a medical at Liverpool after a £35m deal was agreed, but the transfer fell through when Palace could not secure sufficient defensive reinforcements. Guehi now stands to leave the club for free next summer when his contract expires.
England boss Thomas Tuchel gave the squad Monday off for deadline day, admitting many players would have their minds on potential transfers. 'It is one reason why we called the players up on Tuesday, to not have all these mixed emotions,' Tuchel said.
Guehi is a key member of Tuchel's World Cup plans and is set to feature in the upcoming qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia. All 25 senior players trained at St George's Park, with Under-20s duo Law McCabe and Zach Abbott also promoted to work with the squad.
