Gravenberch misses Liverpool squad for Fenerbahce Champions League trip
Gravenberch out of Liverpool squad for Fenerbahce trip

Ryan Gravenberch was the main new absentee as Liverpool named a 22-man squad for the Champions League clash at Fenerbahce on Wednesday evening.

Gravenberch, who failed to get off the bench in the weekend Premier League home defeat to Arsenal, is missing the trip to Turkey due to a heel problem.

It is the latest setback for the Netherlands international having already served a domestic suspension following his red card against Manchester City last month and seen his regular starting role threatened by the revitalised Alexis Mac Allister and the emergence of Trey Nyoni.

No Further Surprises in Squad

There were no further surprises in the party that flew out from Merseyside to Istanbul on Tuesday morning for the fixture, with Liverpool looking to extend their 100% start to the Champions League campaign after three previous victories.

Both Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz made their return from injury on Sunday having both sat out the previous three matches.

Liverpool continue to be without Jeremie Frimpong - who is expected back after the forthcoming international break - along with long-term injured trio Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike.

Academy Players Included

The Reds squad has been bolstered with a number of Academy players, with striker Jayden Danns, defender Luke Chambers and midfielder James McConnell again involved.

Both Wataru Endo and Federico Chiesa are once more absent having not been named in Liverpool's Champions League squad for the opening league stage.
