Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season, having informed chairman Steve Parish in October of his desire for a new challenge. The Austrian, who led Palace to FA Cup glory last season, is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with Manchester United.
Glasner revealed the decision ahead of Palace's match at Sunderland, stating: 'A decision has already been taken, months ago. I had a meeting with Steve in October... I told him I will not sign a new contract.' He added that the pair agreed to keep the news confidential until now for the good of the club.
The 51-year-old also confirmed that captain Marc Guehi is on the verge of joining Manchester City, saying: 'My latest understanding is that a deal with Marc is in the final stages... The result is that Marc doesn't play tomorrow for us.'
Leading scorer Jean-Philippe Mateta could also leave for the right offer, with Juventus interested but yet to meet Palace's valuation. Glasner said: 'There will be a price that Crystal Palace accept... If nobody pays that price, then he will stay.'
Palace have reportedly offered Angers €20m for striker Sidiki Cherif and are confident the 19-year-old wants to join. Meanwhile, the club has begun searching for Glasner's replacement, with Getafe's Jose Bordalas, Rayo Vallecano's Inigo Perez, and Ipswich's Kieran McKenna among the candidates.
