Djeidi Gassama scored twice as a much-changed Rangers cruised to a 3-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round at Ibrox.
Manager Russell Martin made significant alterations to his starting XI following criticism of his players after a disappointing 1-1 draw at Motherwell. James Tavernier, Nicolas Raskin, Danilo and Kieran Dowell were among those dropped, with new signing Oliver Antman making his debut.
Gassama opened the scoring in the 15th minute, combining with Cyriel Dessers before curling a finish past Florian Wiegele. Dessers doubled the lead from the penalty spot just before half-time after Antman was fouled by Matej Vydra.
Gassama completed his brace six minutes into the second half, heading in a pinpoint cross from Antman. The Czech side offered little in response, with Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland making a late save from Amar Memic.
The comprehensive victory puts Rangers in firm control ahead of the return leg in Plzen next Tuesday. The winners will face either Red Bull Salzburg or Club Brugge in the play-off round.
