Tyson Fury has issued a brief response after Anthony Joshua signed a deal to fight him. The two heavyweight rivals are set to clash in November, provided Joshua comes through a warm-up fight unscathed.
Joshua Signs Multi-Fight Deal
Anthony Joshua has agreed to a multi-fight deal, beginning with a bout against unknown heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on July 25. Should he emerge victorious, Joshua will face Tyson Fury in November, likely at Wembley Stadium, with the fight to be broadcast by Netflix.
Fury's Social Media Response
Fury took to social media after the announcement and posted an eyes emoji in response. The 37-year-old is recovering from his own comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov two weeks ago, which Fury won on points. The former Olympic champion had demanded Joshua join him in the Tottenham ring after the fight, but his rival refused.
Fury insisted he had already signed to fight Joshua, with whom he has been on a decade-long collision course. But Joshua had yet to put pen to paper until now. In a statement, Joshua said: “It’s no secret I’ve taken some time to consolidate and rebuild to be ready for stepping back into the ring and today is the next step on that journey. I’m delighted to have agreed a multi-fight deal starting with July 25 in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I’m looking forward to competing and picking up where I left off. As I said, the landlord will collect his rent, that is certain.”
