Frank Confirms Tottenham Transfer Plans Amid £35m Johnson Deal

Thomas Frank has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur will be active in the January transfer window, following Crystal Palace's £35 million agreement for Brennan Johnson. The Spurs winger, who scored the winner in last season's Europa League final, has struggled for regular playing time under Frank and could leave next month.

Johnson is also attracting interest from Bournemouth, who may make a late move to rival Palace as they seek a replacement for Antoine Semenyo. A new forward is expected to be a priority for Tottenham if Johnson departs.

Frank stated: 'We will be in the market. We are definitely interested in, if we can, strengthening the squad. The main bit is the ones we add need to be ones that we really think can improve the team. Then, like normal, there can be outgoings if you want to try to make a sharp squad.'

Spurs' owners injected £100 million into the club earlier this season, signalling intent in the transfer market as they promote a 'new era' following Daniel Levy's departure. Midfield and full-back are also identified as areas needing reinforcement.

Asked about Johnson's availability for the New Year's Day match against Brentford, Frank confirmed: 'He contributed to a very good and important win against Crystal Palace. He trained very well today. I expect him fully to be available and able to play against Brentford.'
