The 26-year-old playmaker was forced to watch from the bench, still nursing the effects of a severe head injury suffered in Monday's clash with Chelsea. The collision left him with a gash requiring multiple stitches and two black eyes, ruling him out of the crucial fixture.
Without Gibbs-White, Forest lacked creativity and leadership, managing few clear chances. The result also highlighted the absence of other key players, including Ibrahim Sangare, Ola Aina, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Dan Ndoye, while defender Murillo featured only briefly.
The defeat served as a stark reminder of Gibbs-White's value, with the club having barely held on to him last summer when a move to Tottenham collapsed. Interest from elsewhere has not dissipated, and a summer departure remains a distinct possibility.
