Bruno Fernandes Slams 'Lazy' Manchester United Signings After Shocking Everton Draw
Fernandes slams 'lazy' Man Utd signings after Everton draw

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has delivered a scathing assessment of the club's recent transfer business, accusing some signings of lacking effort after a frustrating 1-1 draw with Everton.

The Portuguese midfielder, who scored United's only goal from the penalty spot, didn't hold back in his post-match comments, suggesting some players haven't lived up to expectations at Old Trafford.

Fernandes Fumes Over Performance

'When you come to a club like Manchester United, you need to understand what it means to wear this shirt,' Fernandes told reporters. 'Some players think they've made it just by signing here, but the hard work starts after you put pen to paper.'

The 29-year-old playmaker's comments come amid growing pressure on manager Erik ten Hag, with United currently sitting seventh in the Premier League table after another inconsistent start to the season.

Everton Expose United's Weaknesses

Saturday's match at Goodison Park saw United dominate possession but struggle to create clear chances, with Fernandes' 44th-minute penalty cancelling out an early Everton strike. The Toffees could have won it late on, hitting the woodwork twice in the final ten minutes.

'We controlled the game but didn't do enough to win it,' Fernandes admitted. 'That's been the story of our season so far - good moments but not enough consistency.'

Transfer Market Concerns

United have spent over £400 million since Ten Hag's arrival in 2022, but several high-profile signings have failed to impress. Fernandes' comments appear directed at some of these underperforming recruits, though he refused to name individuals.

'The manager can only do so much,' Fernandes added. 'At some point, players need to take responsibility for their own performances. We're Manchester United - we should be winning these games.'

The result leaves United six points off the top four, with crucial matches against Tottenham and Chelsea looming in December.
