Cesc Fabregas has refused to comment on speculation linking him with the Manchester United managerial role, saying it would be 'disrespectful' to current boss Michael Carrick.
The former Arsenal and Chelsea captain was asked about the reports ahead of Como's Champions League clash against Manchester United, but declined to engage with the question.
Fabregas defends Carrick
'As I'm sure you can understand, I won't answer that question because I think that's not a very nice question,' Fabregas said.
'I don't think that shows enough respect to a great footballer and manager like Michael Carrick at the helm of a wonderful Manchester United side.'
Pressure at Old Trafford
Carrick impressed upon his return to Old Trafford last season, guiding his former club to a third-place finish in the Premier League and securing Champions League qualification.
However, Manchester United have made a poor start to the 2026/27 campaign, winning just two of their ten games in all competitions.
While club bosses are reportedly prepared to give Carrick more time to turn things around, several managers have already been linked with replacing the former England midfielder, including Fabregas.
