FA Cup first round: Wednesday draw Oldham, Bradford face Marine

The FA Cup first round draw has paired League One leaders Bradford City with Marine, while Sheffield Wednesday will travel to Oldham Athletic. Ninth-tier Tadley Calleva, the lowest-ranked side still in the competition, could face Barnsley if they win their replay against Aldershot.

Former winners enter the draw

The first round marks the entry of clubs from Leagues One and Two, including several former FA Cup winners. Sheffield Wednesday have lifted the trophy three times, while Wigan, winners in 2013, and 2021 champions Leicester City are also in the mix. Leicester, who have dropped to the third tier after a poor run of form, will play Oxford City on the first weekend in November.

Sholing and Plymouth Parkway have reached the first round for the first time in their history. Plymouth Parkway will face fellow seventh-tier side Berkhamsted, who beat Southend 2-1 to secure their spot, keeping one of their dreams alive.

Non-league dreams and notable ties

Eighth-tier AFC Rushden & Diamonds, founded in 2011 after the demise of Rushden & Diamonds, take on Burton Albion. Robbie Savage's Peterborough United have been drawn against Reading.

Bradford City are the highest-ranked Football League team in the draw, and the Yorkshire club will play Merseysiders Marine.
