Emerson Nwaneri, the younger brother of Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri, has become the fifth youngest goalscorer in the club's U18 history, but his effort could not prevent a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at the Sobha Realty Training Centre.
The 15-year-old's strike was not enough to upstage his sibling, who still holds the record as the youngest ever goalscorer for Arsenal's U18s, having found the net at just 14 years old. Earlier this year, Emerson also became the youngest player to start for Arsenal's U21s in Premier League 2.
Emerson has impressed this season, including a hat-trick in a 4-3 win over Chelsea's U16s. His performances have earned him a scholarship contract for the 2026/27 season.
Meanwhile, Ethan Nwaneri, currently on loan at Olympique de Marseille, has made four Ligue 1 appearances, scoring one goal. He has not featured since Roberto De Zerbi's departure last week, being an unused substitute in a 2-2 draw with Strasbourg.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta defended the decision to loan Ethan out, citing the need for regular game time despite subsequent injuries to Mikel Merino and Kai Havertz. Arteta stated the move was best for the club and Ethan, allowing him to return more experienced.
