De Zerbi set for double Tottenham boost before Chelsea clash

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi could welcome back defender Pedro Porro for Saturday's London derby at Chelsea, while forward Omar Marmoush is also expected to be fit.

Porro has not featured for Spurs since sustaining a hamstring injury during the 3-2 loss to Aston Villa before the extended autumn international break. The Spaniard hinted at an imminent return last week, but Monday night's win over Coventry - Tottenham's first in the league this season - came too soon, with the trip to Stamford Bridge pencilled in as his potential comeback date.

"Pedro Porro, I think he's coming - maybe in Chelsea he can play," De Zerbi told reporters.

Porro trains at Hotspur Way

Porro appears to be in contention for the matchday squad after taking part in a training session at Hotspur Way on Thursday. De Zerbi is expected to provide an update on the defender in his pre-match press conference on Friday, though having his first-choice right-back available would be a significant boost.

Also present in the session was on-loan forward Omar Marmoush. The Egyptian, who scored to restore Spurs' lead on Monday night, was seen clutching his right calf after being replaced by Mathys Tel in the closing stages against Coventry.

Marmoush injury fears downplayed

De Zerbi played down any injury concerns, with Andy Robertson and Tosin Adarabioyo also forced off in the second half. "No, no, no, I think there are no injuries, nothing important," the Tottenham head coach said in his post-match press conference.

Spurs are set to be without the injured quintet of Lucas Bergvall, Savio, Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons and Mykhailo Mudryk against Chelsea, while Destiny Udogie is a doubt after not being risked in the win over Coventry. Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended after being sent off in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United, and Dejan Kulusevski could be on the bench once again after a cameo earlier in the week.
