Daytona Speedway to Install LED Lighting in Major Upgrade
Daytona Speedway to Get LED Lighting Upgrade

Daytona International Speedway is set to undergo a significant lighting upgrade, with the installation of LED lighting throughout the famed 2.5-mile track. The project aims to create what officials describe as 'dynamic, visually engaging moments throughout race events.'

Collaboration with Musco

In partnership with Musco, the speedway will install LED lighting on mast poles around the oval and road course, as well as inside the infield and on pit road. Emergency lights will also be converted to LEDs, and the project will feature accent lighting that synchronizes with caution lights, enhancing the overall spectacle.

NASCAR's Commitment

NASCAR Chief Operating Officer Ben Kennedy emphasized the organization's dedication to facility improvements. 'The new LED lighting system at Daytona International Speedway underscores NASCAR's continued commitment to reinvest in its facilities, enhancing the overall experience for fans attending events at Daytona as well as those watching around the world,' he said. 'The project will create new, visually compelling moments that drive fan engagement, elevate partner visibility and generate excitement across the sport.'

Benefits of the Upgrade

The upgrade will deliver brighter, more consistent illumination across the facility, significantly improving visibility for competitors and race teams. It will also enhance the in-person fan experience and elevate television broadcast quality. Additionally, the new lights are expected to reduce energy consumption by approximately 50%, supporting NASCAR's goal of achieving net zero operating emissions by 2035.

Timeline and Significance

This project marks the first renovation at Daytona since NASCAR's $400 million 'Daytona Rising' overhaul. It is expected to be completed in January 2027, ushering in a new era of lighting at the historic track.
