Crystal Palace are on the verge of appointing Lens manager Pierre Sage as their new head coach, following Oliver Glasner's departure at the end of his contract. Glasner left Selhurst Park after leading the club to the Conference League title in his final match in charge.
The Eagles have reportedly agreed a compensation package with Ligue 1 side Lens, worth around €5 million (£4.3 million). Sage is expected to sign a three-year deal with Palace, finally securing a move to the Premier League after being previously linked with Liverpool.
Sage, 47, previously managed Lyon, guiding them to a sixth-place finish in his first season. He joined Lens last summer and led the club to a Coupe de France victory and a second-place finish in Ligue 1. His appointment comes after Palace considered several candidates, including Coventry's Frank Lampard and new Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola.
Liverpool had also considered Sage alongside Sebastian Hoeness before ultimately appointing Iraola. Speaking after his Anfield move, Iraola said: 'Liverpool is Liverpool... the atmosphere, the supporters, the players, the chance to coach top-level players, the chance to fight for titles. It cannot be more attractive than this.'
