At Canterbury, Kent made 352 in their first innings and are 228 for 6 in the second, with Derbyshire having posted 304. Lord's saw Middlesex score 430, with Durham responding well at 367 for 5. Northampton witnessed Northamptonshire declare on 597 for 7, while Worcestershire could only manage 306 and are 33 for 1 in their second innings.
