Chelsea's Palmer Out With Thigh Issue, Expected Back For Napoli

Chelsea's recent winning run has been overshadowed by a growing injury list, with Cole Palmer the latest absentee. The forward missed the victory over Crystal Palace due to a thigh niggle, but manager Liam Rosenior is hopeful he will return for Wednesday's Champions League clash against Napoli.

Palmer, who has been managing a groin problem throughout the season, was withdrawn from the squad as a precaution. Rosenior told Sky Sports: 'Unfortunately for us, Cole is not quite right for this one. He has got a little niggle. He's not quite 100%, but he has got a chance for Wednesday.'

Defender Tosin Adarabioyo faces a longer spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury against Brentford. Rosenior confirmed: 'Tosin won't be available for this game. Unfortunately, he felt something in his hamstring, which is going to rule him out for the next few weeks.' The club expects him to return no earlier than mid-February.

Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who was substituted at half-time in the Pafos match, has been ruled out of the Palace game but could be fit for Napoli. Rosenior said: 'Jorgensen had his scan, which is actually quite positive and not as bad as we feared. He won't be available for Palace, but could be potentially for Napoli.'

Midfielder Dario Luis Essugo will be absent for over a month after slipping in training. Romeo Lavia is back in light training following a thigh injury sustained in November, though no return date has been set. The Blues travel to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Wednesday needing a win to boost their Champions League knockout hopes.
