Fans in Australia are being treated to a London derby Down Under this morning as Chelsea take on Tottenham in the Sydney Super Cup at Accor Stadium. Kick-off is at 10.45am BST, with both sides using the match as their most high-profile pre-season friendly of the summer so far. Xabi Alonso and Robert De Zerbi are leading their first pre-season campaigns at their clubs.
Chelsea’s second match of the summer
Chelsea’s previous public fixture saw Alonso’s reign start with an entertaining 6-4 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers. That line-up included a number of academy players, with Dastan Satpayev scoring on his debut and Joao Pedro netting a nine-minute hat-trick after coming on.
Spurs’ unbeaten pre-season
Tottenham go into the match unbeaten in three friendly fixtures, having beaten MK Dons, Auckland FC and Sydney FC over the past fortnight. Highly-rated midfielder Luca Williams-Barnett is hoping for more minutes, but James Maddison and Mateus Fernandes are ruled out through injury.
