Chelsea reached the semi-final of this competition last season, losing 4-2 on aggregate to London rivals Arsenal. Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will be in the opposition dugout at Stamford Bridge as Luton's manager.

The Xabi Alonso era got off to an impressive start on Monday night as Chelsea beat Fulham, with Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers all on target. It remains to be seen if any of the trio - or Enzo Fernandez - feature against Luton.
Alonso has promised to name a strong team as the cup competitions take on added importance for the Blues given they are not in Europe this season. Chelsea have won the last five meetings with Luton, including a Premier League double over the Hatters during the 2023/24 season, with a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge almost three years ago to the date.
