Liam Rosenior expressed confidence that Cole Palmer would rediscover his best form before the former Chelsea boss was sacked earlier this week. Rosenior, who lasted just 107 days in charge, had predicted the England international would play a key role in the club's push for European football.
However, Chelsea's form collapsed into five straight defeats, costing Rosenior his job. The Blues dropped from eighth to ninth in the Premier League under his stewardship, losing 10 of 23 matches. Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United now represents their last chance to salvage the season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Rosenior outlined his approach to reviving Palmer's form, which has suffered due to ongoing fitness issues. 'You give him confidence, you point out the things he's doing well,' Rosenior said. 'In terms of chance creation, the chances he's created in our difficult times was very, very high. We just didn't take the chances that he created.'
Palmer, who has attracted interest from Manchester United, insisted he intends to stay at Chelsea. 'I've got no plans to move from Chelsea,' he told The Guardian. 'We've still got a lot to play for.' The 22-year-old has been hampered by a groin problem but remains one of the Premier League's standout talents.
