Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has sent his best wishes to the club’s supporters who were injured in an incident in Naples ahead of the Champions League match against Napoli.
The Blues confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that two fans were being treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The club urged all supporters to “exercise extreme caution” while in the city and to follow the travel advice issued before the fixture.
Speaking on TNT Sports before the match, Rosenior said: “We had a couple of fans out here who obviously ended up in hospital supporting us, so I wish them a speedy recovery and I wish them all the best.”
Chelsea face the reigning Serie A champions on Wednesday night in their final league phase fixture. The Blues currently sit eighth on 13 points and need a win, combined with other favourable results, to secure a top-eight finish and automatic qualification for the Champions League last 16.
