Chelsea are reportedly considering a move to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz on loan until the end of the season, potentially hijacking Nottingham Forest's current loan deal for the Brazilian. The 27-year-old has made only 13 appearances for Forest, and Standard Sport understands that his situation has alerted Chelsea to the possibility of securing his services.
The Blues have been in talks with Rennes over centre-back Jeremy Jacquet but are also looking to bolster their midfield options either this month or in the summer. Injuries to Romeo Lavia and summer signing Dario Essugo have limited options in central midfield, making Luiz an attractive temporary addition.
Luiz is currently on loan at the City Ground but has struggled with injury and for regular game time since Sean Dyche replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as manager. He has been an unused substitute for Forest's last two matches: a 2-1 win at West Ham and a goalless draw at home against league leaders Arsenal.
The Brazilian previously played for Manchester City and Aston Villa, leaving Villa Park in 2024 to join Juventus for a reported £42.35 million. Villa needed the cash to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Luiz has made 27 appearances for the Serie A side but moved to Forest last summer in search of more regular first-team football.
