Arsenal and Liverpool have both secured millions in prize money after advancing to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The two clubs are the only English sides remaining in the competition, following the elimination of Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle, and Tottenham in the round of 16.
Premier League leaders Arsenal overcame Bayer Leverkusen with a 3-1 aggregate victory, winning 2-0 at the Emirates after a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Liverpool overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit by thrashing Galatasaray 4-0 at Anfield. The Gunners will face Sporting CP in the quarter-finals, while Liverpool take on holders Paris Saint-Germain.
UEFA's revamped revenue distribution system, worth nearly £3 billion, has seen both clubs receive substantial sums. Each earned £16.2m for participating, with Arsenal collecting an additional £14.6m for winning all eight league-phase matches and Liverpool £10.92m for six victories. Performance-based bonuses for league position and direct progression to the last 16 added further millions.
Arsenal have amassed £48.9m in prize money so far, with Liverpool on £46.3m, before the knockout stages. Reaching the quarter-finals has added £10.9m to each club's coffers. Should they progress to the semi-finals, they will earn an extra £13m each, with a further £16.1m for reaching the final and £21.6m for winning the tournament.
