Chalobah Provides Injury Update After Chelsea's Champions League Exit

Trevoh Chalobah has offered an injury update after being stretchered off during Chelsea's Champions League exit on Tuesday. The Blues were eliminated following an 8-2 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, a result that marked a historic low for the club.

The 26-year-old defender, who has played the third-most minutes for Chelsea this season, went over on his ankle awkwardly in a challenge with Achraf Hakimi. A picture shared by Chalobah showed his right ankle twisting nearly 180 degrees as Hakimi's boot came down on top of it.

Despite the concerning image, Chalobah has since indicated the injury is not as severe as first feared. In a post to his Instagram story, he said his ankle 'should be broken', suggesting the worst-case scenario has been avoided. Manager Liam Rosenior had earlier described it as a 'high ankle sprain' and expressed hope that it was not serious.

Rosenior said after the match: 'We’ll obviously scan and assess him on Wednesday. We are hoping and praying that it’s not as bad as we first feared.' Chelsea face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday before their FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale on April 4, a competition that may now represent their best chance of silverware this season.
