Celtic star tipped as new Haaland as Rangers boss on hot seat

Celtic's misfiring record signing Kasper Hogh has been tipped to become the Scottish league's answer to Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, despite a 10-game goal drought. Meanwhile, Rangers boss Derek McInnes is under renewed pressure after his side dropped points at Dens Park last weekend.

Hogh tipped for Haaland comparison

Hogh, who joined Celtic for £11million, has not scored in his last 10 appearances for Martin O'Neill's men. One fan, Stephen Mulhern from Dumbarton, remains confident the striker will come good.

Mulhern said: "I was encouraged to read the Bobo\Glimt insider saying Kasper Hogh struggled at first on his arrival, which still makes me believe we will, in time, have the Scottish league equivalent of Erling Haaland. Okay, he's struggling to hit the net at present but his turn and spin to set up Celtic's last goal was absolutely sensational on Sunday."

Hogh has rattled 12 goals this season, but his recent form has drawn criticism. Celtic's 7-1 demolition of Hearts highlighted the team's attacking prowess, though not from Hogh's finishing.

McInnes facing pressure after Dundee slip-up

Rangers dropped points at Dens Park last weekend, and fans are demanding a response when St Johnstone visit Ibrox on Saturday. Stewart Montgomery from Cumbernauld said: "With Celtic and Hearts in action, it's another free week for Rangers. And dropping points at home to St Johnstone would be unforgivable. McInnes took the plaudits after the Old Firm double but there's no point beating Celtic and stumbling elsewhere. If four becomes six or seven points this weekend then we can forget 56."

Peter Cooperwhite echoed those concerns, saying: "Now that a bit of the dust has settled after Dundee, Saturday's game is a must now to secure three points and play the way they did against the Celtic double. It's a must for players to perform and the manager to get his act together again. No more nonsense. We've been down many a road like this for a long time. I hope McInnes takes it in, or I'll take my humble pie back and place it somewhere."

Set-piece coach debate and manager speculation

Celtic's new deadball guru Ross Grant has been credited with helping mastermind the first two goals against Hearts, but Marty Roberts from Clydebank dismissed the hype. He said: "Once again, Stephen Mulhern comes out with a belter. He said that Derek McInnes would be sick, as his former set-piece coach helped mastermind Celtic's first two goals against Hearts... hate to burst his bubble but it was just two straight forward corners that the Hearts defender made a mess of..."

Meanwhile, Stephen Johnstone from Ardentinny predicted both Hearts and Hibs could soon be looking for new managers. He wrote: "Celtic's 7-1 demolition of Hearts could leave Wouter Vrancken like Hibs' new boss - staring at the exit door. Both teams will be looking for new managers and Steven Pressley should be a strong contender for one of the Edinburgh rivals."

The Jambos face Mo Salah's Trabzonspor, while Celtic take on Celta Vigo. Rangers, without European football, have a free midweek.

Barry Ferguson valuation dismissed

Ex-Scotland hero Don Hutchison told Record Sport this week that Rangers legend Barry Ferguson would be worth nine figures in today's transfer market. But Ian Urquhart disagreed, saying: "I respect Hutchison as a player, but he has either had a bang on the head or has had too many wines if he thinks Sideways Barry would be worth £100m if he was playing now."
